Awake & Dreaming Release “Underwater” — Fifth Single from Debut Album Inevitable
Dark pop that floats instead of dropping. Mixed by Jay Dufour (9× Juno). Mastered by João Carvalho. Album out October 16, 2026.
Waterloo, ON — September 18, 2026 — Awake & Dreaming release “Underwater,” the fifth single from their debut album Inevitable (October 16, 2026). The song is a 2 a.m. self-talk session: the moment you either let go of what is dragging you down, or let it swallow you whole.
There is no drop. The song floats. Choruses arrive at 0:55 and 2:01. From 2:41 to the end the water rises and the words stop. The central image is a whale, massive and alone, calling out in a code nobody hears: “Let it go or let it swallow you whole / Like a whale floating too far underwater.”
“Underwater” was mixed by Jay Dufour, a 9-time Juno Award winner (July Talk, Finger Eleven, Billy Talent), and mastered by João Carvalho (Rush, the Tragically Hip, Alexisonfire). Dufour and Carvalho are on the entire album.
The four-piece from Waterloo, Ontario — Sasha Kristoff (vocals, keys), Stefan Schneider (guitar), Phil Lee (bass), Ryan Dugal (drums) — take the single on the road the night it lands. The Inevitable Tour opens September 17 in Windsor and runs ten cities across Ontario and Québec through October 10. Limited vinyl, signed by Sasha and hand-numbered, is on pre-order now.
